Message The fitment and quality are excellent - it seems to me to be a very well made product. I think many of the negative reviews were from a previous mold.

#1 rule - toss the bolts that came with it on the front and use an allen or phillips headed cap screw. This is because you have to fit the tool through the hole you will be making on the inside of the hatch, and the smaller the better for wiggle room to get the screw started. A socket is too big.

I set the spoiler in place and attached the back bolts but left them slightly loose. Then I pulled one of the front corners down until it lined up where it should be and marked the hatch where the front edge was. Then, did the same on the other side. Now you can take the spoiler off and get measurements for the bolt hole from the front and bottom edges of the spoiler. Then, apply those measurements to the hatch based on the mark you made in the first step and it should be really close if you were precise. Drill through the hatch from the outside all the way through both layers of sheet metal into the inside of the car.

It is really important to drill through at the angle that the bolt will be taking as it goes into the spoiler! It is very hard to get the bolt to start if this angle is not correct.

I then put the spoiler back on, attaching it loosely with the back 2 bolts.

Next, I opened the hole up on the inside of the hatch so that I could fit the head of the cap screw through. Do one side at a time - you might find a shortcut as you go that you can apply to the other side. If you are using cap screws you will find the hole doesn't have to be that much bigger than the original. In my case I found that the hole wanted to be right on the curved piece of the inside of the hatch, so I ended up making 2 holes and using a file to connect them, making a slot because I couldn't drill straight on the curve. It's not as bad as it sounds.

The first side I did went pretty easy - got the hole opened up on the inside and was able to get the bolt started in the front of the wing. I had to pull the wing down and get the angle just right to start the bolt, made harder in my case because I hadn't figured out yet to use a cap screw.

The other side went harder - this is where I learned to ditch the bolt that was supplied and use a machine screw. The spoiler fits really tight as you are installing the last side - I loosened up the back bolts a little more and was able to get the front one in. Tighten down evenly, not too much so that you don't hurt the threads in the plastic.

I found the wing fit so snugly that I didn't need any tape on the front edge. I ran a small bead of clear sillicone along it to make sure no water could get in. I did not add bolts to the back center.

Be careful the first time you open it - my old spoiler was so waterlogged and heavy that I thought the struts were worn out - not the case.
